Having been privileged to be on the Oral B toothbrush project, I was super surprised and excited when I received a package full of 16 minis and one full size Oral-B Sensitivity & Gum Calm. The project details on Savvy Circle stated:
“After six years of dedicated research, the experts at Oral-B have created a toothpaste that instantly calms sensitivity and soothes gums. The powerful Oral-B Sensitivity & Gum Calm formula blocks dentine tubes that can expose the nerves to heat, cold, acidity and stickiness. It’s clinically proven to provide a barrier to help protect against sensitivity and erosion now, while also fighting bacteria and plaque to strengthen and calm gums in the future. And what’s more, it tastes and feels great, giving you a superior in-mouth brushing experience for that WOW factor!”
As a sucker for steaks, hot coffee and ice cream, any food to be fair, I often suffer from painful gums or sensitive teeth. This toothpaste tasted amazing, but I tried to keep my expectations low – I’ve suffered from toothpaste disappointment before, often pondering what to do with the rest of the tube and reluctantly using it up to avoid waste.
Anyways, before I digress further, I love an oxymoron in food – sweet chilli, sweet and sour, hot and cold, sweet and salty, you get the point. One thing I LOVE but struggle with is a hot fudgy brownie and vanilla ice cream (plus squirty cream too obvs). I often have to let the brownie cool a bit or let the ice cream melt so that the temperature isn’t a shock. In the name of science and to test the toothpaste, and so not because I wanted it, I assembled this dessert and proceeded with caution. One bite, no sensitivity, two bites, nothing. Maybe it was a fluke? I tried bigger mouthfuls, leaving the morsel in my mouth for a few seconds – nothing, nada, zilch. I must say I was pleasantly surprised!
Aside from the hot and cold sensation now being enjoyable, I also noticed a few other differences. I noticed that I wasn’t having the occasional bleeding gums, that coffee and citrus based juices didn’t cause irritation, that my mouth stayed fresh overnight causing less morning breath and best of all, I could eat soon after brushing as there was no harsh taste.
I gave some samples out and I have all positives so I know its not just me – my sister even packed it in her hospital bag before she went into labour!
I will definitely carry on using Oral B Calm and look forward to which new combinations I can try.
