Nestlé UK Ltd is part of a large international company, which produces many different products world-wide. As a recipient of the enclosed nutritional information list you will be aware of our commitment to provide up to date and correct information about our products.
Recently some UK retailers have been importing Nestlé products from both Europe and other countries without our knowledge and as a result we are unable to guarantee that these imported Nestlé products are suitable for your allergy/intolerance. While appearing to be superficially similar to their UK counterparts, there are often recipe and production differences according to the country of origin.
We can, however, guarantee that Nestlé products produced in the UK and shown on this list are suitable for your allergy/ intolerance.

I would love to see a (H) symbol appear for products that are suitable for Halal consumption which would help people when purchasing items with the (V) sign but has alcohol present. I think the same should apply for (K) for Kosher, (C) for Coeliac (T) for Teetotal…it would certainly make shopping quicker!

I know its stupid but I better confirm before consuming. “Alta Rica” being halal on the list, I just wanted to know, does the product especification/ingredients change when its from dedifferent countries? I mean, is this halal list for UK only? We got Alta Rica here (outside uk) and am wondering if it is still halal.

Walaikum Salaam, I don’t think it’s a stupid question at all. I have got this list and the updated one from Nestle UK. As per Nestle’s notice above, ingredients vary from country to country so it would be best to check with your local Nestle. I hope that helps 🙂
Nestle Kit Kat (India) contains enzymes. Do you have any idea whether these enzymes are animal or plant derived, or microbial enzymes?
Salaams, this list is for UK products, therefore I think the ingredients may vary from country to country. If in doubt, contact Nestle India for assistance.

Wasalaams, Smarties are NOT halal according to Nestle. If you are talking about the giant cookies, they are often made in-store so it would be best to ask the bakery department.

Grateful if you could clarify where you got the source that smarties is halaal. I am Aware it is suitable for vegetarian but not on the halaal list as it contains alcohol.

Salaams sister, I don’t know whether the products in Portugal are the same so please be wary. The bottom part of the list refer to the hala yoghurts 🙂 It doesn’t mention Greek yoghurt unfortunately.

salam. this is new foundings in Malaysia regarding Cadbury chocolates having tested with porcine (pork) ingredients despite having HALAL certification from JAKIM – sole government strict halal certification body. apparently the almond and hazelnut dairy chocolate are non halal. I assure you that since our country’s majority are muslim any exported products you see in your respective countries that have Malaysia JAKIM’s HALAL is safe to consume. This recent founding proves that the moment companies certified with HALAL ignorantly broke the rules and contaminate the products with non halal materials they will be detected.

Does the above list include “whey powder”? Because ingredients say whey powder is in the food and apparently we can not have whey powder.
Salaams, I have contacted Nestle about this issue and I have been told that the whey powder for products on the vegetarian list is derived from vegetable origin. Also, the products that are on the veg list but not the halal list are ones that have ha alcohol as a carrier. In sha Allah I should be getting an updated list soon 🙂

Salam, i can see that you have listed kitkat milk 2 fingers in the halal list. However, it contains natural vanilla flavouring and I just read from muslimconsumergroup.com that alcohol is used in its extraction therefore it is not halal. So now I’m abit confused. I have heard many mixed views on this, however, after doing some research, I found that
http://www.foodguide.org.uk/?page=viewquestion&id=200 says that the extracts are deemed permissible due to the nature that they are used in (not for intoxication), because the alcohol is often burnt off in the cooking process and also because these extracts are very commonly used. Forgive me sister, this is the UK list…you will have to contact Nestle in Japan for information on the products manufactured there. Because those flavours are not readily available in the UK, I can’t tell you their status here:)

Forgive my ignorance but consuming Vitamin D3 sourced from sheep’s wool is halal right?
Salaams brother, your question is not ignorant at all:) I have been assured by nestle that these products are suitable for a halal diet. Sometimes ingredients are used in the cooking process but not present in the final product. However, I am by no means a scholar so I will conclude by saying if in doubt, it’s best to leave it out:)

Lactose – could be derived directly from Milk in which case it is Halal or from whey powder in which case it is doubtful. Doubtful meaning if the whey is a by product of Halal cheese manufacture then it is Halal and if not, then not Halal. Only Nestle can confirm the source of the lactose.

I contacted Nestle regarding this as I did not want to promote false information. The lady told me that most items contain lactose that is suitable for Vegetarians. Also, most items omitted from the Halal list are due to alcoholic flavourings used in the chocolate. I have uploaded the vegetarian list below:

Crunch is also not on here, therefore Brother Ebrahim is probably right about the lactose in this particular product.

I live in the U.S and people on the Internet say that Nestlé Crunch chocolate bar is halal but its not on this list.
The ingredients are listed on the wrapper as followed: milk chocolate (sugar, choclate, cocoa butter, non fat milk, lactose, milkfat, soy lecithin, vanillin-an artifical flavor), crisped rice (rice flour, sugar, barely malt, salt).
Can you verify if its halal or not?
Salaams, the ingredients listed all look ok for a halal diet, however, I am not learned enough to be able to pass judgement on that. I have been advised that all the items on this is are not only suitable for a halal diet but also not at any risk of cross-contamination. This list is also for UK products, so it might be beneficial for you to contact Nestle in the US.

Thank you. I sent Nestle an email and waiting. But this would be a question to Nestle Iran, not Nestle USA, right? The can was produced in Iran, imported from there by a local food store here.
OK. I have a Cerelac can in my hand that my wife bought from a local store in Texas that imports from the ME and around the world. It reads “Nestle Cerelac Wheat & Fruits”. Reads it was produced in Qzvin, Iran. In the above “halal” list, I see “Cerelac Wheat” and “Cerelac Fruits” as two separate items. So is my can a different item? It is not in the above list as it is. I researched Cerelac producsts but there is not a single website that lists all the products so that I could verify whether my item was indeed different than “Cerelac Wheat” and “Cerelac Fruits”.

Ingredients on the can read: Wheat flour, Skimmed milk, Sucrose, Orange, Palm olein, Pineapple, Banana, Low erucic rapeseed oil, Coconut oil, Sunflower oil, Calcium carbonate, Sodium phosphate, Vitamins, Vanillin, Ferric pyrophosphate, Bifidus culture, Zinc sulphate, Potassium iodide.

Unfortunately this list is for items being sold in the UK:) if the item is not on the list it is not halal. However, the ingredients that you posted all look permissible however your best option would be to contact Nestlé USA. Please keep us informed of your progress in sha allah:)

Wasalaams sis:) everything on this list is from nestle themselves. Sometimes Smoky Bacon is a flavouring they use as Walkers Smoky Bacon crisps once had the ‘V’ sign (not sure if it still does). I am no way a scholar and therefore wouldn’t feel right to advise you Islamically:) however I have been told that all the items on this list are suitable for a halal diet:) with that said, if in doubt…leave it out:) Allah knows best! x
